The Way of the HeartMind

In our Journeys from “here” to “there”, what lights your Way? A quick moment of reflection might suggest a multitude of possibilities. One may reasonably conclude that at certain times in our life some elements have illuminated the path forward, while at others different lights have shone. Upon examination we may discern continuing patterns, ongoing themes that have provided guidance and support. How then can we take these elements and piece them together to uncover what uniquely guides and supports us?

The answer, from the unitive Spiritual approach called the HeartMind, is simple: “Where there is Love.” The underlying Teaching all come from one main Idea: All that was/is Created comes from Love, so the Return Home needs to be guided by that same Love. 

The Gospel of John begins with: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” Surely this same “light” would be useful as we struggle with our own dark moments of uncertainty and doubt. But what is this “Light”? What is this “Word”? How do we find it?

Imagine substituting the word “Love” in places John uses “Word”. Imagine that from the Beginning, and every moment since, Love was present. Picture Love being both the carrier wave of the Message, as well as the Message itself. Now imagine that you are an emanation of pure Love. Then, the only True Way home is by following (once you have found it) the Light of Love that has Created you. Simple. 

The Mission of the HeartMind is to support people to integrate their mental processes with their divine heart workings. In that consciousness field of divine integration, there are no real separations, just the joy of moving one point of Love to another. Then our lives are not a series of problems to be solved, and obstacles to overcome to get what we want, but a Journey buoyed by the Spirit of Love. The question then becomes one of implementation. The suggestion in this Way of Compassion begins with the (humble) recognition of the gentle ways in which Love has supported and shaped the positive aspects of our Journey. Break out the Spiritual Journal and begin a record and reminiscence of times in your Life where something, or someone, has touched you deeply and made a difference in your arc. It could be a teacher, a movie, a song, a work of art, a lover, a pet…start with the first one(s) that come to your HeartMind. Now here is the “secret” of unlocking the full power of Love to provide the Light you need to move fully forward with self-actualization…breathe with the words that are being written. Let the images and thoughts combine in your heart space to ignite and release the energy of Love. How to know when the “journal” entry is complete? Again- it is very simple- you begin to spontaneously smile and feel joy in your heart. That very energy, in time, will be the torch that will light your Way…as well as bring a lift in your steps. 

Spiritual Journaling is an essential tool in the Way of the HeartMind as it helps integrate the energies and information gathered through our minds and our hearts. Give yourself permission, on a regular basis, to take time for your “Self”. Allow this  higher Self to dialogue with your ordinary mind and help process your personal feelings. An integrated Soul can find direction and support in a most chaotic world. The “personality”, in its egoic/reactive proclivities often only brings gasoline to a bonfire.  Again, the distinction between personality process and spiritual (and soulful) process is easy: one brings joy, comfort, direction, and fulfillment. The other brings distress, suffering and misery. It IS a choice. The Universe will be there regardless, but the angels rejoice (as will you and your friends and family) when you choose Joy and Love. Further, this Loving Joyfulness is highly contagious. Ultimately it will conquer all obstacles.

This Path of Love is a shared Journey. The more you (consciously) trod it, the more you will find yourself walking with others, and the more Nature and the Universe responding. Let’s have some Fun together. Let’s explore more tools as a Community.
