Spiritual Practices at Berkshire CenterPoint
While exploring the Berkshires’ attractions, visitors can deepen their experience through spiritual practices offered by Berkshire CenterPoint. These practices help create meaningful Connections with nature and foster inner peace.
Harmony Prayers: Three Paths to Connection
Berkshire CenterPoint offers three types of Harmony Prayers, each serving a different spiritual purpose:
- Gratitude Prayers focus on acknowledging the abundance and beauty surrounding us. These prayers help visitors recognize the gifts present in both the natural world and their personal lives.
- Prayers of Supplication provide a way to ask for guidance, healing, or support during challenging times. These prayers create space for vulnerability and trust in the larger forces at work in our lives.
- Prayers of Beholding invite practitioners to witness and appreciate the divine presence in everyday moments. These prayers enhance awareness and deepen our capacity for wonder and reverence.
Harmony Meditations: Deepening Your Connection
Berkshire CenterPoint offers guided meditation practices designed to help visitors connect more deeply with nature and themselves. Two primary practices form the foundation of this spiritual work.
Focusing the HeartMind
This meditation begins with grounding yourself in the present moment. Sit with your feet planted firmly on the earth and feel your toes—wiggle them to establish your Connection to the ground beneath you.
Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a forest, transforming into a tree. Visualize roots growing from your feet, extending deep into the earth. Place yourself fully in this natural space. Feel the warmth on your branches, trunk, and leaves. Notice what kind of day is presenting itself. Are there birds seeking to alight on your branches? Take in the scents of the forest air.
As you breathe in, allow energy from the center of the Earth to rise through your roots and into your body through your feet. With each deepening breath, let this energy travel higher to your top branches and further out along your limbs. Feel it nourish the inside of your “tree.” Notice how all life forms are nourished by you, even as you receive nourishment from the Earth and energy from the Sun.
Allow the Earth’s energy to meet the Sun’s power deep inside the heart of the tree—at your CenterPoint. Notice any feelings, colors, or sensations that arise. Do you feel more connected to the Earth, the Sun, or other trees?
When you reach the fullness of this experience, express your joy through sound. Let it emerge from deep within your bark and harmonize with the Earth, Sun, and all life forms around you. Listen for the chorus of support and affirmation. Feel it in your chest and heart center, and remain open to any messages from your HeartMind.
Stay in this space as long as it feels comfortable. When you feel complete, offer thanks to the Earth, the Sun, all life forms, and the Community you call your “forest.” Allow the Earth’s energy to return to the center of the Earth, and let the Sun’s energy return to the sky. Close with “Amen. Aum. Shanti. Peace.”
Breathing With The All-Mother
This meditation deepens your Connection to the divine feminine energy present in nature. Begin by closing your eyes and imagining yourself in a forest. See the trees around you and hear the wind rustling through the branches. Smell the forest floor as you walk quietly through the lush natural carpeting that Mother Nature provides.
Feel the green softness supporting and cushioning your footsteps as you allow yourself to be guided deeper into the glade. Glimpses of sun above the tree canopy shine warmth and light upon your head. Your pace slows as you come to a clearing—a sanctuary from daily life.
Find the place where you’re drawn to sit, where a rock outcropping or tree stump provides a natural seat. In this idyllic scene, close your eyes and heighten all your senses. Listen for the bird songs, focusing on the one that seems directed to you. This is the voice of the All-Mother calling you to relax and be supported in Her embrace.
Consciously slow your breathing. Breathe with the wind, breathe with the birds, breathe with the trees. Imagine yourself as a tree with roots reaching deep into the Earth, branches spreading wide, and your crown reaching toward the sky.
As you breathe as a tree, feel energy rise from the center of the Earth and enter through the soles of your feet, as if they were roots. Let this powerful expression of the All-Mother rise through your legs and into your torso, settling into your heart on the in-breath. As you gently hold this air in your lungs, give thanks for the Breath and the Earth energy as they mix in the core of your being.
Feel the energy move through all parts of your body. As you slowly breathe out, again give thanks for all the support and life force the Great Mother provides. Continue this breathing as a tree, letting your breath merge with the rhythm of all trees in the forest, then with all that is alive in the forest.
Finally, as you connect with the sky and all that exists below the surface, align with the very breath of the All-Mother. Feel the Unity, the Power, the Love. As your breath slows to its natural rhythm, feel the All-Mother breathe you. Bask in the sunshine of Divine Harmony and Bliss.
Take as long as you need to feel revitalized and reconnected. When you’ve absorbed as much as possible, give thanks and slowly let the energy return to the center of the Earth. Say your prayer of Gratitude as you slowly return from that treasure of Green Splendor back into your body. Close with “A-U-M.”
